The 26-year-old was only voted off The X Factor two weeks ago and he looks set to become the first person to appear on both the talent competition and the jungle reality show in the same year.
A source told The Sun: "Jake was a big hit on The X Factor and not just because of his voice. He's going to be the male eye candy in the jungle and potential love interest for some of the female stars.
"ITV usually refrains from signing up reality stars unless they're household names. But they've made a special exception for Jake."
This year was Jake's second attempt on The X Factor, with him not making it past Nicole Scherzinger's judge's houses in 2012, so entering the jungle would be the perfect way for him to stay relevant.
Of course having a jungle love story never hurt anybody's career – Peter Andre managed to reinvent himself by marrying Katie Price – so it is thought Jake might have his eye on a relationship while down under.
The source continued: "Jake is hoping to get at least a modelling deal out of it.
"Plus, if a jungle relationship comes his way, he wouldn't exactly be discouraging it."
Other's thought to be joining Jake in the jungle include TOWIE's Gemma Collins, Olympic diver Tom Daley, Katie Price's ex Alex Reid, former Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, actress Michelle Keegan and The Wanted's Max George.
