And it looks like it’s going to happen.
Despite previously refusing to confirm or deny the rumours, Olly, 30, has admitted he and boss Simon Cowell, 55, ARE in talks for him to take the job.
Speaking to Spin1038, X Factor alumni Olly said: “I haven’t got it yet. We’ve spoken about it in the papers but nothing’s been finalised or nothing’s been signed yet.
“We’ve had a few discussions, that’s about it really.”
There’s no doubt that Olly is more than qualified for the job. He’s one of the shows biggest success stories and previously enjoyed a successful stint as a co-presenter of The Xtra Factor, alongside Caroline Flack.
Viewers loved the chemistry between Olly and 35-year-old Caroline, something it seems he is keen to recreate for the main show.
He continued: “Me and Caroline have obviously spoken about the idea of it, but like I say, it’s just an idea at the moment, nothing’s been finalised.”
We’ve got a feeling there’s more than a good chance Si will give Olly the job, considering he’s never been shy about heaping praise upon the cheeky Essex boy.
Speaking previously, Simon said: “Olly Murs is exactly the same guy as when I first met him, he hasn’t changed one bit, and I love that!
“As long as you keep everybody grounded, I say, ‘all I can promise you is an opportunity’, and to take that opportunity and make the most of it.”
