The 25-year-old was undoubtedly one of the best from last year, but somehow didn’t make it past boot camp.
Even Cheryl Fernandez-Versini admitted not putting Monica through in 2014 is one of her ‘biggest regrets’.
So we were prepared for youth worker Monica to kill it in the second round of auditions at the weekend.
But Monica’s moment was almost overshadowed by an argument with fellow hopeful Princess Diamond, who’d refused to rehearse with their group and failed to learn the lyrics to the song.
When they took to the stage in front of Cheryl, Simon Cowell, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw, they were asked if there had been any tensions.
Princess was quick to reply: “Yes! What’s your name again? Monica. Monica came to me all up in my face for no reason really.”
Monica, seemingly determined not to lose her cool, simply hit back: “Well, we were rehearsing and there’s gaps where we’re waiting for her to come in.
“Obviously it’s a team effort right now and we’re running about trying to babysit her and it’s just frustrating. She wasn’t interested, song choice [she] didn’t like it and stormed out.”
Despite the fact the judges were clearly growing tired of the row, Princess swiped back: “They wasn’t even singing when I left!”
In the best revenge, though, Monica sailed through the audition and was part of the lucky contestants who made it through to the next round.
Sadly for Princess, she fluffed the lines and was sent packing. We suspect her foul attitude also had something to do with her being rejected.
