The singer, 31, was visibly upset for the most part of the challenge – especially when she'd filled her seats and was forced to switch the hopefuls out.

After initially giving posh jazz singer Chloe-Jasmine Whichello a seat, Cheryl made the decision later in the show to take it away from her and give it to one of the other girls.

However in a shock U-turn, Cheryl later brought Chloe back and gave her a chair again, this time sending Orla Keogh home.

Now it's been reported that Cheryl was pressured by the show producers to bring Chloe back.

A source told The Sun: "Cheryl had axed Chloe despite Simon Cowell begging her to keep her.

"It was only after the producers went to see Cheryl that she suddenly changed her mind. The mood in the audience was already pretty toxic and after that it looked there was going to be a riot. Tensions were high."

Viewers at home didn't see the alleged chat with the producers, but they did see Simon, 54, telling Cheryl she was wrong to send Chloe home.

He told her: "You made a mistake, babe," before adding "Cheryl, change your mind."

At first Cheryl seemed adamant that she wanted to send Chloe home, telling Simon and the audience that she'd made her up mind.

Which is why viewers were shocked when she later brought her back onto the stage.
