Monica Riley used to dream of being the fattest woman in the world. But that all changed when she decided to start a family.
The Texas native whose partner Sid Riley used to feed her ice cream through a funnel appeared on This Morning today to explain why she has turned her life around. After suffering two miscarriages she found out she was pregnant for the third time and doctors urged her to lose weight for the sake of her baby.
Talking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she said: ‘After my two miscarriages and knowing that I want to have a family, once I got pregnant for the third time we sat down and had a discussion and thought, “what is the main cause?”. It was all how much I was eating and what I was eating, definitely.’
Before her lifestyle overhaul an average day for Monica would see her consume 10,000 calories in the form of six scones, six sausages in a bread roll, a big bowl of cereal, two weight gain milkshakes, four McChicken sandwiches, four double cheeseburgers, large French fries, 30 chicken nuggets, a large portion of macaroni cheese, a Mexican takeaway and a gallon of melted ice cream.
But now her daily food intake couldn't be more different. She said: ‘I’ve completely changed everything. I now eat vegetables, chicken and a few carbs with every meal. I have three meals and two snacks a day, very little portions and 2000 calories a day.’
And Monica is even beginning to include exercise into her routine, going for walks to help burn calories. She told Closer Magazine: 'Walking is quite difficult as I'm still very heavy, but I'm slowly getting back my energy, so I hope to start doing some proper exercise soon.'
Having already lost 15st and with her baby due in November this is a year of huge change for Monica and we can't wait to see what else 2017 has in store for her.
