FINALLY! The trailer for Angelina Jolie's Maleficent has landed - and it looks ridiculously good.
For those not in the know, the upcoming film follows the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. The one with the horns, the fabulous gothic outfits, the ability to turn into a dragon and the seriously bad attitude?
The one who, y'know, got a bit upset about missing out on a party and cursed a baby girl to die?
Yeah. That one. In this prequel to Sleeping Beauty, we see Maleficent (Angelina, obviously)as a beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, growing up in a peaceful forest kingdom. That is, peaceful until the day an invading army threatens the harmony of the land.
Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal — an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Hellbent on revenge, the sorceress faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora (Elle Fanning).
But, as the child grows, Maleficent realises that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom — and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
