In Monday night's EastEnders episode fan witnessed a dramatic bus crash in the market but viewers of the show were not impressed with the storyline and compared it to the terrorist attacks in Berlin.
In yesterday's episode a bus driver suffered from a heart attack at the wheel and while Denise Fox (who was a passenger on the bus) tried to steer the bus away from the market, it was too late. The bus drove through the market causing all sorts of chaos but eventually stopped after it hit the train bridge.
Plenty of people pointed out that it was similar to the Berlin terrorist attack that happened on December 19 and left 12 people and 56 other people injured and slammed the show on Twitter.
One person tweeted: "When will TV producers learn that "borrowing" harrowing events like the Berlin Christmas terror attack isn't "entertainment?" #eastenders"
Someone else wrote: "So there's gonna be a story on EastEnders about a bus driving through a market bit of an insult to the victims in Berlin is it not?"
Another person complained:
"I think the bus crashing into the market in #EastEnders is in bad taste considering what happened in #Berlin over Xmas!"
Others tweeted:
EastEnders bosses have denied it related in any way to the Berlin attack, a representative for the BBC One show said: "EastEnders is a fictional drama and the crash in tonight's episode was not based on any real-life event," they told The Sun.
They pointed out that they're always careful with the content they have in their show.
A few EastEnders fans also pointed out that they think even more devastation could be in store for the Walford residents. After noticing Shirley, Tina and Sylvie Carter are on a train and the bus crashed into the train bridge, could another tragedy hit the Square?
Eek! So much drama.
