Ellen Degeneres, who voices the forgetful Blue Tang fish, premiered the clip on her YouTube channel this week, revealing the first details of the film.

Writing alongside a link on Twitter, Ellen said: “I’ve been waiting to show you this for 10 years [sic].”

The trailer features Nemo and his dad Marlin, who are trying to stop Dory from sleep-swimming.

But when she wakes up, Dory remembers something – her family!

So we’re guessing that, instead of Dory going missing, like Nemo did in the first film, the sequel is all about her finding herself.

Which, for a kids’ film, is actually pretty deep, isn’t it?

We’re not sure if that’s supposed to be some kind of clever metaphor about the ocean being deep and all that stuff, but, either way, we’re excited.

And Ellen recently revealed the film holds a much more important, hidden message.

She told Yahoo: “I think that fish should be in the ocean. It’s what the this whole sequel is about: it’s about rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean. And we have to protect our oceans.”

Deep indeed. But a very necessary message.
