Five series into Channel 4’s hit show, The Undateables, and we’ve all seen some pretty extraordinary and moving moments.

But nothing quite caught the heart of the public like last night’s episode.

Yup, fans were left in tears when loveable participant Tammy went on a romantic date with Gary, 47 - and finally found love.

After being seriously ill with severe meningitis, Tammy, 34, lost both her nose and her lips to meningococcal septicaemia, a deadly form of blood poisoning.

The Undateables aims to help people like Tammy, who are living with challenging conditions, to meet potential partners.

And, during a scenic boat trip between Gary and Tammy last night, it was clear that there was a spark between the two.

He told her: "When I saw you, you dress beautifully, you’ve got lovely eyes and as soon as we started chatting it’s gone..

"It’s not that important, it's what you have in common.

“I’m bald and I wear glasses and I’ve got a slightly odd shaped head. Nobody’s perfect. We seem to have a lot in common and it hasn't been an issue at all.

"It’s been a pleasure."

Tammy was left very emotional after the sweet remarks, and she wasn’t the only one.

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to express their joy over the romantic union.

One Twitter user wrote: “Gary has just restored by faith in human beings”

And another: “Watching #undateables always makes me cry #Tammy you deserve to find someone OMG I am turning into a soppy git.”

Many other fans were curious to see if the relationship between the pair progressed at all.

And, speaking today on This Morning, Tammy told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that she found Gary endearing because he was more concerned about his bald head than her appearance.

She added that she plans to have reconstructive surgery in the next few years... but doesn't want to find a serious partner until then.

We're wishing you all the luck, Tammy!
