You'll know him as Bane, the muscular masked villain (with the seriously creepy voice) who took on Batman in The Dark Knight Rises, but now Tom hardy is set to lend his acting talents to a very different role.
He's only gone and scored the part of Elton John in the upcoming movie about the pop legend's life!
While we imagine he'll do a great job, it's difficult to imagine the muscular badboy of the silver screen in one of Elton's velvet suits - but, as it turns out, Elton himself thinks Tom is a dead ringer for his younger self.
Well, you would, wouldn't you?
Elton is an executive producer for the upcoming film Rocketman, which will tell his story, from his childhood to his rise to fame, and the legendary performer is believed to be re-recording some of his biggest hits for the movie.
Peter Schlessel, the head of Universal and co-executive producer of the film, had this to say about their decision to cast Bane as Elton:
“Tom is quickly becoming known as one of the world’s most versatile actors, and like others at the top of their craft, he has proven his ability to transform himself completely into the character or subject found in the material."
He added: “We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton. This, in conjunction with the creative team led by Michael and Rocket Pictures, will provide the foundation for something that will be a unique cinematic event.”
