The 23 year-old bonded with Miss Universe GB Amy Willerton, 21, as she tried to teach him how to read a clock, only for the TOWIE star to declare: ‘It’s so much easier to look at your phone though, isn’t it?’
She told him: ‘You ought to remember, if you want to go and buy a nice watch, like a designer watch, people will come up to you and say, ‘Joey, what’s the time?”’
But Joey replied: ‘I’ve got a watch, but watches are more like fashion, ain’t they?
‘My watch ain’t got numbers on it.’

Joey’s team —Amy, Snooker champ Steve Davis, Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington and EastEnders actress Laila Morse — lost the first Bushtucker Trial to the yellow team.
The ‘Turntable of Terror’ saw the celebrities compete against each other while covered in a variety of creepy crawlies: fashion designer David Emanuel beat Laila to complete a star jigsaw while crawling with cockroaches, while talk show host Matthew Wright scored a star over Amy after they were covered with writhing snakes.
Westlife’s Kian Egan beat Rebecca while they were surrounded by rats and Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air actor Alfonso Ribeiro scored a fourth star when he went head-to-head with Steve.
Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter let Joey Essex win their contest — which saw them coated in lizards — so that the red team had a meal for the night. She joked that the lizards would be scared of Joey’s dazzling smile.
‘They’ll be scared by the whiteness of your teeth,’ she said.
Both Matthew and Alfonso were driven to tears by their challenges.
While the yellow team were greeted by a roaring campfire, the losing red team found themselves in the less than luxurious Snake Rock.
While a massive storm brew, the team struggling to light their fire – until resourceful Rebecca suggested setting fire to a tampon to use as kindling.
We’d never have thought of that!
