Fans of the BBC One competition took to Twitter to react to 34-year-old Jamelia’s addition to the line-up, which also includes Peter Andre and Georgia May-Foote.
One user fumed: “So Jamelia will be on Strictly. Let’s hope she doesn’t whinge and cry as much as she did in that @BearGrylls programme [sic].”
Earlier this year the singer took part survival expert Bear’s show Mission Survive, and struggled to cope.
But, considering this time she’ll be on a dance floor and not in a forest, we’re sure Jamelia will just fine.
Many Twitter users seem to disagree, though. These are just some of the tweets against her taking part in the dancing show:
Speaking about the news today, Jamelia said: “My girls are huge fans of Strictly, but when I told them I was doing it they laughed as they know that dancing is not my forte.
“The girls are amazing dancers, though, so I definitely want to learn a new skill so that I’ll be able to give them a run for their money, and end them teasing me once and for all.”
Earlier this year Jamelia angered Loose Women viewers when she suggested that the high-street should not support plus-size fashion, insisting: “They should be made to feel uncomfortable when they go in and can’t find a size.”
