Emmerdale favourite Sophie Powles, who plays troubled Holly Barton, is rumoured to be leaving the show for good despite only returning in March this year.
She’s apparently already filmed her last scenes and had her leaving party two weeks ago.
A show insider told The Sun: “Sophie has enjoyed returning as Holly but she never saw coming back as a full-time thing. So she’s back off into the real world again.
“She was looking at other roles after she was finished travelling, but Emmerdale asked her back and it seemed silly to turn it down, so she returned."
The insider hinted that she definitely will be missed: “She’s a popular cast member and will be missed by everyone on set.”
Sophie returned to the ITV soap earlier this year and has been in the centre of a huge storyline that saw her character Holly have a drug relapse when she couldn’t stay away from her heroin addiction. Her Mum Moira quickly intervened and forced Holly to go cold turkey, inevitably resulting in the breakdown of her marriage to Cain Dingle.
Will Holly Barton go out with a bang? Her exit storyline is apparently being kept under wraps and promises to be one of the biggest this year.
Could there be fresh Barton family drama on the horizon as a result of Holly’s exit?
Will her exit be bigger than Andy Sugden’s emotional farewell? We’ll have to wait and see…
