We remember Shrek coming out in the cinema like it was yesterday.
In fact, many of us still quote the ogre, Princes Fiona, Donkey, Gingy, and co on a daily basis.
And don’t even get us STARTED on those awesome songs.
Want recap on those lyrics?
So, when an ogre in the bush grabs a lady by the tush
That's bad, that's bad, that's bad, that's bad
When a beauty's with a beast it makes me awfully mad
He's mad, he's really mad
Now I'll take my blade and ram it through your heart
Keep your eyes on me, boys, 'Cause I'm about to staaa...
Epic.
Like we said, it feels like yesterday that we first tumbled into Far Far Away…
But, as it turns out, yesterday was a whopping 15 years ago.
Yikes - does anyone feel mega old all of a sudden?
To celebrate the marvellous 15th Anniversary of Shrek, the clever folks at Premier have taken a look at where he and all his pals are nowadays.
Are you ready for this?
SHREK
With three young ogres running around the swamp, and his talky pal Donkey constantly popping up out of nowhere, Shrek was left with no choice but to try and find inner harmony through yoga and meditation.
He’s even tried to get his friends to call him by the nickname the Green Swami of the Swamp, but let’s be honest, every now and then he still rages like the big old grumpy ogre we know and love.
FIONA
Fiona spends her free time as an ambassador for healthy living in Far Far Away. Not only does the Fierce Ogre Princess bring her martial arts training classes to local schools, she also has a community garden on the castle grounds that proudly features Ogre-ganic fruits and vegetables.
These are produce grown using swamp juice to keep the bugs away instead of pesticides.
DONKEY
Donkey has managed to visit his pal Shrek literally every single day since they became friends some 15 years ago.
This is quite an accomplishment when you take into consideration that he also puts on a weekly variety show at The Royal Opera Hall, teaches tap dancing classes to all the king’s horses, and has been Far Far Away’s waffle-eating champion for 7 years straight!
PINOCCHIO
The little wooden puppet is still pursuing his dream of becoming a “real” boy. He was recently seen getting treatments from Dr Knowall, Far Far Away’s resident plastic surgeon.
With his freshly carved nose and maple syrup lip injections, Pinocchio is really starting to turn heads - even though his still turns all the way round.
GINGY
This sweet little man has been busy as can be with his new line of cruelty free cookies.
No faces, bodies or personalities on these sweets, just inanimate confections with chewy gooey centres!
With new stores popping up on what seems like every other corner of Far Far Away, successful entrepreneur Gingy is rollin’ in the dough.
Well that was oddly illuminating, wasn’t it?
It’s good to hear that, no matter how long it’s been, Shrek and the gang are still as close as ever.
However we're concerned that there's no word on Puss In Boots.
Does he... does he still have his wee booties? Is he as cute as ever? Has he finally found the feline of his dreams and settled down to raise a litter of kittns with her?
Premier have assured us that he is still kocking about Far Far Away with all of his nine lives intact, however, so we guess that's good news.
Guess he'll remain the ultimate Cat Of Mystery, eh?
So many questions, so little time...
