Shona McGarty has opened up about her suspension from EastEndendes, saying she massively regrets the situation.

The soap actress was pushed for “repeatedly being late” which got her into trouble with both the cast and the crew in 2012.

The star was told to stay away from work for four weeks and was left shaken as a result.

She insists she has now learned her lesson and will not repeat the same mistakes.

Shona told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine: “I was like, ‘Oh God, this is bad.’

“It was lazy and irresponsible of me. I only lived round the corner as well, that’s what made it hilarious.”

She reassured fans she is now always on time to film her scenes and admits she should never have let it happened.

Shona said: “It was typical of me as I was always late for school. There was no excuse really, I was just tired and young.”

The actress has gone on to be at the centre of a number of dramatic storylines on the BBC show, which included her character Whitney having a miscarriage earlier this year.
