Poor Sarah, 33, was ripped into online following her four-episode cameo – with fans attacking her acting abilities.

X Factor winner Shayne, 30, is set to join the soap as Aiden Connor, the cousin of Michelle, who's played by his fellow former pop star Kym Marsh.

Taking to Twitter today Shayne finally revealed when his first episode of the ITV show will air.

He wrote: "My first @itvcorrie appearance will air Friday 21st Aug OMG! #Aidenconnor [sic]."

While former Girls Aloud star Sarah was contracted for only four episodes, Shayne will be sticking around on the Cobbles for at least a year.

Speaking previously he said: "I was in total disbelief [when I was cast].

"It still hasn't sunk in. Shayne Ward, the lad from Manchester, given such a role on such an iconic show – it is an absolute dream come true.
