Their characters Kat and Alfie Moon have been at the centre of some of the show’s biggest plots (remember the controversial baby swap storyline?!)

And according to The Sunday People, Jessie and Shane say producers have lost the plot with some of their far-fetched tales.

In case you’ve been living under a* Coronation Street*-shaped rock, Kat and Alfie Moon are about to be sent on their barmiest escapade ever - in search of the long lost son, she never knew she had. This comes after Alfie revealed he has a tumour on his brain that might kill him, Kat saw her own Dad, Charlie Slater, drop dead in front of her and the pair won £1million on a Lotto scratchcard (which they could surely use to find her now grown-up son?!)

Jessie admits even she’s finding it hard to get her head around Walford’s latest plot.

She said: “I don’t know what to say. She was so out of it, Kat, and obviously before she had a scan she did not know she had another son.

“All roads lead to Ireland. It seems a little bit ridiculous that she did not know she had a son. I am trying to justify this.

“She must have been so out of it, she did not know she had another child. He gets adopted and moves to Ireland and then Kat and Alfie go to Ireland to look for him.”

Jessie, 44, and Shane, 51, will be filming for the series in April for four months.

They told an Irish chat show audience that it’s not the first time scripts have baffled them. Shane said the soap’s cot death storyline, which saw Ronnie Mitchell swap her dead tot for Kat and Alfie’s boy, was a “farce”.

Talking to the Irish The Late Late Show, Shane said: “We did a lot of research about that and that turned into a farce, for want of a better word, because it became like a baby swap story. It split the audience.

“We spent time with couples who had sadly lost children and we did our research. Doing that was tough as we have both got children. We put our heart and soul into that to play the truth.

“Who would ever move into Albert Square? Someone gets murdered every Christmas and there is an illegitimate baby born.”

Jessie added: “It is a bit like Jeremy Kyle ain’t it?"
