We already know that Barbara Windsor is returning as Peggy Mitchell for the special EastEnders anniversary episode next month.
“It would be a huge moment in EastEnders’ history"
And, for a while, it seemed as if her on-screen son Ross Kemp would be joining her.
An EastEnders source revealed late last year: “The 30th anniversary is going to be one of the biggest events ever in the soap.
“With Barbara having already agreed to return the next name on Dom’s list is Ross.
“He would love nothing more than to bring Peggy back to Albert Square with both her boys.
“It would be a huge moment in EastEnders’ history.
“Talks are still ongoing but everyone is hopeful. If anyone can pull it off Dom can.”
And Ross hinted that he’d be up for returning earlier this year. He said: “Never say never – I don’t think you should ever do that.”
But now he has dismissed the rumours, insisting he is just "too busy" to come back to Walford this time around.
Speaking to the Gloucester Citizen, Ross said: "I can't join her [Windsor]. It's just about space in my diary."
Steve McFadden's on-screen brother did, however, say that he wouldn't be averse to an Albert Square reunion in the future.
He explained: "I would never rule out going back to EastEnders, I owe it a heck of a lot. I think it's a great show."
