It has been confirmed that Sony will remake 1996 teen horror film The Craft.

The studio has hired horror filmmaker Leigh Janiak to write the script of the new film and direct. Writer Phil Graziadei will also co-write the film script.

The film has a massive cult following

The original movie starred Robin Tunney as a witch who starts at a new Catholic school. She soon falls into a clique of aspiring witches, though their intentions are far from good.

Tunney starred alongside Neve Campbell, Christie Taylor and Fairuza Balk in the hugely successful cult film.

It is not known who will star in the much-anticipated remake, but the producers definitely have a host of up-and-coming teen stars to choose from.

Perhaps Disney star Zendaya Coleman alongside a gothic Kylie Jenner?
