Whether you admit it or not, the main reason we tune into I'm A Celebrity every year is to see celebrities chow down on kangaroo testicles, get locked in boxes of rats and, generally, humiliate themselves in a range of disgusting Bush Tucker trials.
"I'm saying if you are that claustrophobic then you shouldn't have gone in the first place"
So it makes sense that fans of the show have taken offence to the fact that Rebecca Adlington, the Olympic swimmer, has been excused from several trials due to unspecified medical grounds.
Even Phillip Schofield, famed for his role as This Morning's resident Mr Nice Guy, has suggested that Rebecca should NOT be allowed to star in I'm A Celebrity.
"Whether it's severe enough or whether they are being soft on her out there or whatever... but I'm sticking my flag in that and I'm saying claustrophobia.
"I'm saying if you are that claustrophobic then you shouldn't have gone in the first place."
Phil is not the only one who's assumed that Rebecca is claustrophobic; fans have furiously been speculating over Rebecca's issues via Twitter.
And, after Monday night's episode, which saw presenters Ant and Dec reveal that the Olympian would not be taking part in the Cave Danger trial (which involved the celeb being lowered into dark tunnels full of rats and other nocturnal beasts), the majority have assumed claustrophobia is to blame.
Which, according to Twitter users, is NOT a good enough reason to be exempt from a trial.
One user, Cara Smith wrote: "I've read that Rebecca Adlington is ruled out because she's claustrophobic? Why bother going into the jungle?"
"I've read that Rebecca Adlington is ruled out because she's claustrophobic? Why bother going into the jungle?"
Another added: "Right so Rebecca Adlington is out on "[medical] grounds" cause of claustrophobia but joey is claustrophobic but you don't see him complaining?"
Many questioned whether Rebecca could be pregnant, but her fiancé Harry Needs has taken to Twitter to deny the rumours: "I can honestly say hand on heart, she's not... Unless something went on in the jungle without me?"
Hmm.
Matthew Wright, another contestant on the show, has commented on his disappointment over Rebecca's lack of competitiveness.
"Playing the medical card more than once is a risky game, as people will begin to question whether she is trying as hard as she should be"
And sources on the show have suggested that Rebecca will be unlikes by the general public if she continues to "play the medical card":
"Playing the medical card more than once is a risky game, as people will begin to question whether she is trying as hard as she should be."
A spokesperson for ITV added: "Rebecca was exempt from both trials on medical grounds."
But Rebecca's aunt, Sonia Adlington insisted: “It’s not Becky’s choice.
“She wants to do the challenges – even eating grubs – but she is not allowed to do some of them on doctor’s orders.
“Years of swimming gave her a medical condition, details of which we’ve been told not to divulge.”
The Olympian's Uncle Tony added that Rebecca is just as unhappy about the trial exemption as the viewers.
He said: “She’s not happy she’s being pulled out of trials. She must be the fittest one in there and it’s annoying for her not to get a go.
“Becky wants the public to know why she is being excused. We wish the producers would say the reason. The family know but have been sworn to secrecy.”
