A party-goer woke up to more than just a hangover after a particularly wild night in Watford.

The reveler found a note left by the police, explaining that they had found him ‘staggering home’ and were concerned he wouldn’t find his way back, so gave him a lift home.

‘We found you staggering in the road on your way home from Watford,’ read the letter, written on Hertfordshire Constabulary notepaper.

‘You were so drunk we were worried you wouldn’t get home in one piece! So we gave you a lift home.

‘Please don’t get that drunk again.’

Showing a bit of cop humour, the note is signed by ‘Cagney and Lacey’, referring to the popular 1980s American TV cop drama.

The note, which was posted on Facebook, has already garnered over 40,000 Facebook, and was later retweeted by the official Hertfordshire Police Twitter account, asking the real Cagney and Lacey to ‘please stand up’.
