Opinion: Danny Mac is the only worthy winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2016

Seriously - how is this even a discussion?

Look, I’m not going to beat around the bush: Danny Mac is the only worthy winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2016. In fact, I feel so strongly about this, that if he doesn’t win, I’m never watching the show again.

I’ll be honest. Danny Mac’s not traditionally my cup of tea. In fact, I didn’t even know who he was before this season of Strictly kicked off. But then I saw him dance, and BOOM. Suddenly I was his biggest fan.

From the first show, Danny has been flawless. I mean, he scored 31/40 for his Cha Cha in week one for god’s sake! And apart from his Foxtrot in week six – which you’ll probably remember as the dance where the silly red rope tethered him to Oti… as IF Danny needs fancy props! – he’s literally not put a foot wrong.

I have nothing against Louise and Ore. They both seem like nice people, and I’m happy they’re in the final – they deserve it. They just don’t actually deserve to win. Neither of them have been as consistently dazzling on the dancefloor as Danny - despite what the judges scores say. And talking of the judges scores - don’t get me started on how much Danny’s been undermarked. The fact that he’s only had two 40s so far is INSANIA!

What’s annoying me the most – apart from the fact that people think anyone other than Danny deserves to win the glitterball trophy – is all the talk of Danny’s previous dance training. So what? Having previous dance training doesn’t automatically make you a good dancer (I mean, I played the violin for nine years, and it still sounds like I’m strangling a cat). And are you seriously telling me that Louise – who was in 90s girl band Eternal – never had any dance training at all? Oh please!

But like I said, I just don’t care whether Danny’s had a head start or not, because when he dances my heart a-flutters and my loins a-tingle. Because boy can that man move. While most people have a dodgy dance or two, Danny’s mastered them all. From his insanely sexual Samba (which I’m still having hot, sweaty dreams about), to his silky American Smooth and his cheeky Charleston – he seamlessly switches between Ballroom and Latin dances, conquering them all in style.

So PLEASE vote for Danny on Saturday night. He’s worked hard, and is without a doubt the most spectacular male celeb dancer the show has ever seen. I couldn’t bear for him to lose out – 2016’s already been rubbish enough!
