Actress Anne Charleston has returned to her role as Madge Bishop to celebrate Neighbours 30th anniversary.
Madge heartbreakingly died from pancreatic cancer in 2001 in husband Harold’s arms. Madge’s last moments are amongst the most famous scenes to feature in the soaps 30 year history.
In the episode set to air today on Channel 5, Madge makes her return when Harold is visited by her spirit.
Before her return, he was revisited by memories of his time with Madge, from their famous break up by the lake to his shocking disappearance during a coastal holiday.
After his friends Karl and Susan Kennedy become concerned with his odd depressed mood, he becomes distracted by his thoughts of Madge and crashes his camper van into the stalls at the inaugural Erinsborough festival.
Madge’s return from the dead also coincides with the return of pop star Delta Goodrem, who played Nina Tucker, and Nell Feeny, who played feisty matriarch Janelle Timmins.
The 30th anniversary episodes continue today at 13.45pm and 17.30pm on Channel 5 and will be available on Demand 5 from this evening.
