Well this is awkward; it turns out Masterchef duo Greg Wallace and John Torode aren't actually friends after all... according to John, at least.
Despite working together for 26 - yes, TWENTY SIX - years, Masterchef judge John Torode has admitted that he and Greg Wallace have 'never been friends.'
Talking to The Mirror, the Aussie chef - who is dating 2010 Celebrity Masterchef winner Lisa Faulkner - said: "It’s funny, we’ve never been friends... We’ve not been to each other’s houses.
"If we go away to somewhere like South Africa, we do things separately... If we do go out for a drink, I’ll invariably be at one end of a big old table and he’ll be at the other."
In fact, John went on the explain that while the pair are all-smiles on camera, off screen, relations between the Masterchef judges can sometimes get pretty heated.
"Once, we had a bit too much to drink and filming got called off. We ended up having a massive fight about one of the contestants, and he got really stubborn – it was ridiculous. We’ve had a couple of standoffs over the years, about contestants, and I’ve just had to walk away from him," he revealed.
John's revelations are all the more shocking, as just a few days before Greg Wallace said quite the opposite.
Appearing on Lorraine last week, Greg gushed: “I have a very close relationship with John.
“People don’t realise how close we are – he was my best man – he’s close to me 7/8 months of the year. What’s great about the partnership is that if one of us is down the other perks us up.
“We’re very close to each other physically and emotionally. We trust each other.”
Ouch!
