It's been a pretty tough year so far, and in the eternal search for good news, it seems like Melissa and Clark From Married at First Sight are currently the nation’s great hope, but are they still together?
Sources are saying there may be trouble in paradise, but we’re not ready to hear it!
Next week will see the crunch-time 90-minute special episode air, when the four couples all live together for four weeks, and then decide whether to stay together.
And despite everything Melissa and Clark are definitely the pair who have the most hope of making it work - Adam and Sara did make an effort and had their sweet moments, as did Lucie and Steve, while Caroline and Adam made us smile (although we can't forgive her for being such a dragon about the room service order) - but we know in our hearts the others won't make it. No, we are firmly looking to Clark and Melissa to show us love isn't dead.
Clark and Melissa get married
From the moment Clark saw Melissa on their wedding day, he was just blown away by her. And he melted our hearts with his romantic approach – saying before he was really interested in getting to know her as a person, not sleeping together too soon, and trying to make a proper go of it: "It's not marrying a stranger - it's marrying someone you've never met before…"
As someone whose parents are divorced, Clark opened up saying he didn’t take the idea lightly, and he’s a one woman guy: "I want [my marriage] to be happy, purely with one person otherwise I wouldn't be doing this."
Melissa and Clark go on honeymoon
Melissa initially kept her cards close to her chest after the marriage, but was won round on their romantic honeymoon in Ibiza, where the couple spent time together in a luxury villa getting to know each other, and definitely flirted! We loved it when she teased him she'd been disappointed he wasn't ACTUALLY superman.
Having started off quite cool, she ended up in tears by the end of the honeymoon, acknowledging that she really liked him! Awwww: "I really like Clark, I really, really like Clark it’s weird… I’m going to cry… I’ve never felt like this before about somebody else…
"I didn’t believe in connecting with somebody in that way until I met Clark."
Are Melissa and Clark still together?
But now it looks like there could be trouble in paradise: "Clark had told all his friends that they are no longer together," the Sun has reported. "But it looks like he had a change of heart as they now seem keen to try and make things work."
After which the couple have released a statement, saying: "All marriages have problems. We are fine and are adapting to married life."
On the last programme of Married at First Sight series 2, where Adam and Caroline were the only couple to decide to stay together, Clark and Melissa said they had decided to spend some time apart, as Melissa's move to Milton Keynes for work had put a real strain on Clark's life in London, and his job. Twitter was also aghast that they might not make it:
BUT Clark and Melissa didn't say they were getting a divorce either, and it sounds a lot like they are still really keen on each other and we are hoping that if they relax a little after all the stress they've been under, spend some time apart, and then perhaps date each other like normal people, they WILL end up together! We are refusing to believe that love is dead. Sorry. And, to be fair, who doesn't have to spend a little TLC on their marriage every now and then?
On his Instgram Clark shared a funny update saying: "This married at first sight thing has sent us both round the bend - I'm very lucky to have met Melissa and intrigued to know where the future will take us!
"Melissa is an amazing woman who is beautiful, funny and everything I could ask for as a wife - the time apart will give us a chance to properly date and get to know each other in normal circumstances.
"Marriage is hard but f**king rewarding and I can honestly say that if I was to meet Melissa again at the end of the aisle I'd do it again."
Melissa and Clark we're rooting for you!
