Lucy Beale - played by Hetti Bywater - was killed off on Good Friday 2014, with almost everyone in Albert Square a potential suspect.
Was it Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) who dragged her lifeless body onto Walford Common? Could it have been her stepmother Jane (Laurie Brett)? Or perhaps it was ex-lover Max Branning (Jake Wood)?
Well, armchair detectives recently dug up a clue from the EastEnders Children In Need special from last year; the late Lucy Beale's ghost appeared and, when asked by her father "who did this to you?", simply filled in his crossword and vanished.
At first, we thought it simply read: "I love you"
However canny viewers have spotted that, just underneath this, it reads: "Lee, stop it."
Could former soldier Lee Carter (Danny-Boy Hatchard) be the one who did the dark deed?
Plenty of people certainly think so - and now Maddy Hill, who plays his on-screen sister Nancy, has let slip that the Carters WILL be playing a big part in the upcoming live episodes.
You know, the upcoming live episodes when Lucy Beale's killer will be exposed.
Perhaps giving away more spoilers than she should, Maddy told The Mirror: "I’ve got a quite a bit in the live, there’s quite a bit coming up with me and Danny.
"I’m really excited, it’ll be wicked, it’ll be a great atmosphere."
Could Nancy and Mick be faced with learning that Lee, whom slept with Lucy shortly before her death, had more to do with her murder than previously thought?
Or could it just be that EastEnders bosses, much like fans of the show, just can't get enough of the Carter family?
