Katie McGlynn has admitted to putting on a stone after her character Sinead Tinker died from cervical cancer.
Katie has played the role of Sinead on Coronation Street since 2013, and her battle with cancer has been dominating her storylines since she was diagnosed in 2018.
And now she’s revealed that playing Sinead’s death was so emotional that it lead to her comfort eating on set and gaining weight.
"The emotion involved in Sinead dying meant I was just grabbing food and not really thinking about good nutrition," she told The Mirror.
"I was so tired when I got home that I’d order a takeaway. On set, there were a lot of chocolates, flap jacks and treats flying around."
She also revealed that she went to see a counsellor after filming the traumatic scenes, adding, "It was like the storyline got embedded in my head. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and crying.
"I was sitting on my sofa watching the programme in which Sinead is told she has weeks to live and I started to cry."
