Fans of iconic Becky MacDonald will be disappointed to hear she won’t be making an appearance for the funeral of on-screen sister Kylie Platt.

Katherine Kelly, who quit the show in 2012 after six years as the ex-con turned soap heroine, tweeted the news on Sunday evening.

"Corrie Fans! Filmin "Class" in Cardiff. Bex won't be at Kylie's funeral But thanx for all the love. Hasn't @lane_paula been FAB! #loveher," she wrote.

Katherine, 36, is busy playing Miss Quill in Class, a Doctor Who spin off that will debut on BBC Three later this year.

After a nail-bitting build-up, we finally said goodbye to Kylie (Paula Lane) on Friday night (15 July) in a heart-breaking double bill.

Kylie was accidently stabbed by Callum's pal Clayton, who was hassling her friend Gemma Winter outside the kebab shop.

In the emotional scenes, Kylie tragically died in the arms of husband David - just moments before the ambulance arrived.

Before she died, Kylie told David how much she loves him and that he must carry on for the sake of their children.

However, David (Jack P. Shepherd) is now hell bent on revenge as he struggles to cope with the loss of his beloved wife.

As the episode aired, Paula Lane took to Twitter to say a final farewell.

"I loved every second of my time on the street - always my family and always in my heart. Onto the next chapter"

Jack P. Shedherd had previously spoken of the tears on set as they were rehearsing the harrowing scenes, but shared this message on Friday:

"Me and this one in rehearsals @lane_paula , wasn't tears all the time! X"

How sweet!

The scenes of how David deals with his loss will air on Coronation Street later this month.
