Parents of 19, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, are reportedly planning to adopt a child in the New Year.

Sources close to the couple claim they are keen to add to their family, after 49-year-old Michelle suffered a miscarriage in 2011.

“They’ve been mulling it over for a long time, and they feel the time is right to get legal advice and get the process underway,” a source told the Life & Style.

“They’re looking to adopt a child in the New Year.”

And despite claims that strict Christian Michelle has ‘exhibited signs of intolerance towards other races and religions, the insider says she is open to all cultures.

“Michelle says she doesn’t care if they adopt a boy or a girl, or what ethnicity the child is,” the source said.

“She says she just wants to help a child’s life.”

However some claim this move is to distract from the recent controversy the family has courted.

Their show was pulled after news surfaced that oldest son Josh had molested five underage girls as a teenager, including two of his sisters.

“They’re a desperate family,” a source claimed, “who want to stay in the spotlight.”

The family have not commented on recent reports.
