Fans watched last month as the unlucky couple walked out of Walford for good – but not before winning big on The Lottery.
Now Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie have been meeting with executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, with the Kat and Alfie show set to hit our screens next year.
A source told the Mirror: “It’s very early days but they have attended a couple of meetings with producers to get an outline of what is going to happen and to get an idea of what the show is about.”
Off-screen besties Jessie, 43, and 51-year-old Alfie have left the Square together before but this is the first time the cameras have followed them.
Discussing the new show, Dominic said: “Now is the perfect time to take two of EastEnders’ most beloved and enduring characters out of their comfort zone as they head to Ireland to search for answers to some very big questions.
“My team here are very excited about creating a whole new drama that stands apart from EastEnders while taking out style of storytelling to a place of stories, myths, secrets and immeasurable beauty.”
