Actors Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson have been confirmed to return for a new series of The Fall.

The end of the second series, which was aired last year, finished on a cliff hanger after Dornan’s character Paul Spector was shot.

The series has become incredibly successful, mostly due to Jamie Dornan’s chilling performance as serial killer Paul Spector and Gillian Anderson’s portrayal as detective Stella Gibson.

Allan Cubitt- who writes and directs the hit series- said following the news: “The cliffhanger ending of season two was conceived in the hope of further exploring the characters and the themes that are at the heart of The Fall.”

Jamie, 32, has achieved global fame after starring in the first instalment of the 50 Shades of Grey franchise.

It was rumoured that he would not be returning for the second 50 Shades movie, but studio reps have denied that this is the case.
