Actress Stephanie Davis has thanked her fans for their support after she was sacked from Hollyoaks last week.

Stephanie, 22, was given the boot after her constant partying became an issue. In a statement given by her agent, they explained: “Stephanie’s contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption.”

Now Stephanie – who had played Sinead O’Connor in the Channel 4 soap since 2010 – has broken her silence and wrote on Twitter earlier: “I would like to thank all of the fans for your continued support and not believing everything you read.”

She continued: “I'm excited to embark on a new adventure and already excited with things to come! U guys have been amazing and I love you all!!! Thank you ! Stephanie xxx.”

It was alleged that there were at least 20 incidents in the run up to Stephanie’s dismissal but she seemingly shot down the claims and added: “I have no problems don't believe everything you read. I'm staying quiet and rising above it.”

It’s not known whether the soap’s bosses will re-cast the role of Sinead of whether she will be written out.
