James Fletcher, who plays troubled teenager Dylan Jenkins in Hollyoaks, has decided to leave his role at the end of his current contract.
But, with his final scenes still a while off, show bosses have vowed to ensure that the hit-and-run victim has plenty more drama to sink his teeth into before he goes.
A Hollyoaks insider told Digital Spy: "Dylan was a popular new addition with the show's young fans, so he definitely won't be leaving quietly.
“There's a busy few months ahead for him - building up to a memorable exit."
We don’t doubt it; Dylan, son of local gangster Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) managed to ruffle a lot of feathers within moments of arriving in the sleepy village.
From almost killing Porsche McQueen (Twinnie-Lee Moore) by locking her in a freezer, to starting a war with stepmother Grace Black (Tamara Wall), he has made plenty of enemies in a very short period of time.
And, in recent weeks, we’ve seen Dylan take centre stage with a cross-dressing storyline, turning to women’s clothes in a desperate bid to find comfort amongst all the drama going on around him.
Drama like, say, this:
But this is set to cause problems for his relationship with Nico Blake (Persephone Swales-Dawson), who misreads the signs and assumes that Dylan has a crush on her mum, Sienna.
And, more troublingly, viewers will also see Dylan’s cross-dressing drive a wedge between him and his father, when self-confessed ‘tough guy’ Trevor insists he’ll disown his boy if he doesn’t stop.
We wonder if this will be what leads to Dylan’s exit?
