Hollyoaks viewers should be prepared to say goodbye to the lovely Amy Barnes as she will bow out of the show for good and Duncan James has now opened up about his onscreen fiancé’s death.
It was only recent that Duncan, who plays Hollyoaks’ Ryan Knight, announced that Amy Barnes will depart from our scenes very soon. During his appearance on Loose Women he said: "One of Hollyoaks’ longest running characters, the lovely Amy Barnes, is about to be dead."
Hollyoaks bosses are keeping very quiet on how exactly she will die but we do know Ryan will discover her body. The past few months have been a little crazy for Ryan Knight; he’s been arguing with Ste Hayes over Ste and Amy’s children, he cheated on Amy with Mercedes McQueen and now he’ll have to deal with losing his fiancé.
Duncan has teased what’s in store for his character and Amy’s death: "There's going to be lots of twists and turns in the plot. The audiences aren't going to expect what's about to happen, as there's some really good twists.
"I can also confirm that there's a brand new character about to come into Hollyoaks, who is linked to the Amy Barnes storyline. That character will expose Ryan in a new way, throwing him into a whole different area than we've seen so far," he told Digital Spy.
We can’t wait to find out more about Ryan!
Duncan admitted that the upcoming scenes are intense and explained just how emotional they are: "I did a scene the other day and I was really proud, as it was all of my own natural emotion coming out. I was sobbing like a baby – and that was great, because all the tears were real."
