Hollyoaks' Halloween Spooktacular episodes claimed the lives of two Chester favourites - evil Nico Blake (is she really dead though?) and Joe Roscoe - who was so close to winning back the love of his life, Mercedes McQueen.

We chatted to the cast of Hollyoaks to see what they thought of all the Halloween drama - watch below:

Enjoying a ride on the Halloween Ferris Wheel Joe and (new) his fiancée Mercedes were stuck watching the aftermath of the intense maze fire unveil beneath them - the result of his ex Joanne stopping the maze in an act of revenge.

With Cameron Campbell setting fire to the neighbouring maze, both Joe and Mercedes were unaware that the flames would soon cause an explosion in the Ferris Wheel mechanics, leaving them both in grave danger.

As Joe was reaching out to climb onto the cherry picker that was rescuing him and Mercedes from the halted ride, the Ferris Wheel's mechanics exploded - leaving Joe to jump for his own safety.

We all gasped in horror as he clung on the the side of the cherry picker, with Mercedes desperately pleading with him to 'hang on' before Joe fell to his death in shocking scenes that will go down in Hollyoaks history.

Fans were absolutely devastated the pair were robbed of their happily ever after:

Actor Ayden Callaghan joined Hollyoaks in 2013 alongside his four on screen brothers and mother, Sandy – played by Gillian Taylforth.

Speaking about his time on the show and filming the dramatic stunt episodes, Ayden said: "I enjoyed my time at Hollyoaks greatly from the early days of the Roscoe family’s arrival and winning ‘Best Soap’ at the end of our first year, to filming the Halloween 21st anniversary stunt, which was fantastic.

"Thank you to Bryan, the writing team and all those at Hollyoaks for three and a half years I won’t forget, and of course to the fans for their tears, laughter and ongoing support."

Are you feeling emotional? Or are you glad to see the back of Joe Roscoe? What do you think the future holds for Mercedes?
