Armchair detectives everywhere have desperately been trying to figure out who the Gloved Hand Killer in Hollyoaks is.

And now, as the serial killer stands poised to strike again, it seems as if we may have been given our biggest clue yet.

But, before we get too carried away, let’s look at what we know so far…

The Gloved Hand Killer first struck on New Year’s Day, when Rick Spencer was given a lethal injection by someone wearing blue gloves.

Next on the kill list was the psychotic Will Savage, who wound up in hospital after falling off the hospital roof - and was sent on his merry way by another lethal injection dose.

Third to be bumped off was Diane O’Connor (Alex Fletcher), who came as something of a curveball as her only crime was to break up the marriage of Porsche McQueen (Twinnie Lee Moore) and Lockie Campbell (Nick Rhys).

Now, despite the fact student nurse Tegan Lomax (Jessica Ellis) has been most people’s number one suspect, it seems as if Mariam (Helen Ledger) may have just uncovered some CRUCIAL evidence which suggests the murderer is none other than her estrangers husband, Dr S’avage (Andrew Greenborough).

Yup, Mariam - after posing as a member of staff at the hospital - manages to gain access to her former hubby’s hospital records.

Despite S’avage trying to distract her from her findings, she soon concludes that he is the killer, and rushes back to print off the evidence… before it’s too late.

Meanwhile viewers will watch as Dr S'avage's briefcase pops open and ALMOST reveals the hospital gloves, as he meets with Dirk in The Dog.

Has Mariam solved the murder mystery?

The gloves match those worn by the Gloved Hand… but is Dr S'avage really the killer?

Hollyoaks airs these scenes next week on Channel 4.
