The Hollyoak's village is to be hit by devastation as pregnant Sienna Blake receives a shock diagnosis.
Sienna, who is currently pregnant with twins, will find out she has cervical cancer in shocking scenes to be aired next Friday (21 July).
The bosses are working closely with Macmillan cancer charity to ensure that the topic is highlighted in a accurate and sensitive way.
Anna Passey, who plays Hollyoak's Sienna Blake, spoke to a cancer patient who had found out their diagnosis whilst in the late stage of pregnancy.
A Hollyoaks source told the Daily Star Sunday: "It's a heartbreaking and difficult time for her. Anna has spoken to a cancer survivor and the writers have been working closely with Macmillan to make sure they get the storyline right. It's going to be an emotional rollercoaster for Sienna as she comes to terms with her diagnosis."
Sienna's cancer battle is tipped to be one of the most gripping storylines of 2017.
“Sienna’s cancer storyline is going to be one of the biggest of the year. When she finds out that she has the life-threatening disease, her first thoughts are for her unborn babies.
'It’s a cruel twist considering everything she’s been through. Her teenage daughter Nico died during the soap’s Halloween Spooktacular last year. So when she discovered she was pregnant with twins she was delighted to get a second chance at motherhood.'
The next few weeks will see Sienna make the unthinkable choice between her unborn babies and cancer treatment.
Meanwhile, boyfriend Warren Fox (played by Jamie Lomas) is having an affair with Sienna's arch enemy Grace Black.
