While Theresa McQueen packed her bags to get onboard the next plane to Spain (meaning there’s always room for a return to the show – yay!) Jorgie’s plans for the future are based at home, building up her UK TV career.

Speaking to the The Sun, the 28-year-old explained why she felt it was time to depart from her beloved character.

She said: "Leaving Hollyoaks after so long was scary, because when I started I was this chubby cheeked little girl, and I really have grown up there.

"But I couldn't go through life thinking I never tried anything else. I want to look back and say, 'I was scared, but look what I scared myself into doing.

"What's the point in being alive if you don't take a chance now and again?"

When her final scenes were aired last week, devoted fans took to Twitter to say their goodbyes to Theresa.

And she tweeted the following message in response to the support:

And after seven and a half years on the teen hit, it’s understandable she felt it was time to fly the nest and begin to branch out on her acting career.

The previous I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here contestant – who’s had her fair share of dramatic scenes over the years – told how she’d like to take on more comedic acting roles going forward.

"I would like to do more comedy roles now, but I think you have to be open to things coming along and not be snobby about parts you're offered.”

The blonde beauty is already set to star in the upcoming revival of the BBC’s Are You Being Served, which originally aired on the channel in 1972.

"I will definitely miss playing Theresa, because I've had lot of fun with her, and the part has given me more confidence in a lot of things."
