John Paul McQueen bowed out of Hollyoaks last night (Wednesday 8 March) but not before fans were surprised with a few twists - and a possible McDean reunion. Which obviously delighted the most devoted fans. We've recently seen JP's relationships with both Ste and James crash and burn - and it seems like the writers couldn't help but pair him with true love, Craig Dean.
John Paul - played by James Sutton - left on a plane with son, Matthew, to start a new life together in Singapore. He'd only just finished promising the little lad that there would be no more men in his life, when he got a call from Craig.
The cheeky little twist echoes John Paul's exit back in 2008 when he and Craig left together to live in Dublin. The moment - which fans called their Sunset Ending - is one of Hollyoaks' most iconic exits.
It was left up to viewers to decide what happened next, but most fans had already reunited McDean in their heads. (We're just going to turn a blind eye to the fact that JP hasn't heard from Craig in about five years and he's never met their son.)
