Gogglebox fans, here’s why Alex Michael looked SO different in last week’s episode…

There are a lot of conspiracy theorists out there in the world.

So, when Alex Michael (aka the daughter of The Michael Family) appeared on Gogglebox looking startling different, there was a LOT of talk about it on Twitter.

People questioned whether she’d changed her makeup regime, or had a haircut, or, y’know, had plastic surgery.

Others questioned whether something even more strange was at play (alien abduction or robot replacement, anyone?).

But now the truth is out - and it has BLOWN OUR MINDS!

Are you ready for this?

Sometimes Alex is unavailable to appear on the show… so they have her secret sister stand in for her.

WHAT?!

Yup, we’re totally serious; Alex and Katie - whose full name is Catheryne - are 18 months apart in age.

However they look more like twins.

So, while Katie prefers not to appear on the show, we guess it makes sense that, when Alex can’t, she slips into her place on the sofa.

It’s a bit odd that they never actually ADDRESS the elephant in the room though, isn’t it?

Maybe they just love the element of mystery.

Turns out we’re not the only ones who have been rocked by this news; the responses on Twitter have been pretty incredible.

One wrote: “Oh my god just found out #gogglebox Alex is sometimes subbed by her sister...

“I thought she was just wearing really good contour.”

Another added: “Find it so weird that Alex on Gogglebox is randomly replaced with her sister Katie now and then.”

They added a cry-laugh face emoji which, to be honest, sums up our thoughts on the matter exactly.

As it turns out, parents Carolyn and Andrew also have a stand-in for their son, Louis, too.

Yup, that’s right; they have another son, Pascal, who's currently studying neuroscience in Aberdeen.

We can’t cope.

Did you spot that Alex wasn’t on Gogglebox last week?
