It was right after Marnie had said ‘yes’ to Ricky that she announced her decision to quit Geordie Shore, leading to emotional goodbyes.

In the final instalment of Geordie Shore: The Greek Odyssey, viewers saw Marnie excited about her engagement-to-be, as well as the rest of the cast’s reaction to it.

But just months after the proposal, the couple had a very public split, making the scenes look rather awkward.

Marnie posted on Twitter after the episode aired: “Hope everyone watching Geordie shore is enjoying it. That was a happy/sad time in my life”.

Fellow cast members Charlotte Crosby and Gaz Beadle expressed their concern over the proposal.

Gaz said: “The words ‘proposed’ and ‘Geordie Shore’ just don’t fit in the same sentence.”

Charlotte was more worried about the fact Marnie and Ricky had only been a couple for four months at that point.

“Just makes me think there is something wrong there,” she said.

Ricky revealed he would not be watching the finale on Twitter after TOWIE friend Mario Falcone tweeted that the episode would be “double awkward”.

Ricky tweeted a string of monkey-see-no emojis back at him, saying: “you’ve been waiting so long for that tweet I’m not watching it… I’m having an early night lol”

Marnie has been spotted back filming for the next series of Geordie Shore, which begins in March, according to the Mirror.
