In the saddest TOWIE news since Mario Falcone’s departure, Gemma, 34, admitted that, while she loved her time on the ITVBe reality show, it’s just time for her to move on.
She tweeted: “I’ve had a blast on @OnlyWayIsEssex. Thank you @LimePictures, @ITV & especially the fabulous fans. Lots of love, GC [sic].”
Earlier this month 27-year-old Mario confirmed he won’t be returning for the new series, and he and GC follow in the footsteps of Essex favourites Amy Childs, Mark Wright and Sam Faiers – who have all left the show to focus on other projects.
A source told the Mirror: “Filming four, five days a week just was not working out for [Gemma].
“TOWIE are in a bit of a pickle at the minute – Mario Falcone’s gone, Gemma’s leaving; there will be more jumping ship soon.
“But Gemma has had lots of offers and a lot of people want to do massive budget pilots with her. It’s a hectic schedule and it hasn’t been ideal. The time is definitely right to leave.”
GC provided TOWIE viewers with some TV gold – her hilarious life logic, explosive arguments and love of throwing drinks will definitely be missed.
There’s whispers that former car saleswoman Gemma is now in talks to appear on Celebrity Big Brother later this month or even make a return to the I’m a Celebrity jungle in November.
Whatever she chooses to do next, we’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing a LOT more of the Essex diva in the near future.
