The popular TV star told an interviewer she was diagnosed with the growth years ago, and that tragically where it’s located means she cannot conceive children.
45-year-old Perkins, who is dating TV psychologist Anna Richardson, has a tumour on her pituitary gland, which is responsible for the production of reproductive hormones.
And speaking to Good Housekeeping magazine, Sue said getting her head around the fact she couldn’t have kids was incredibly tough.
‘We live in a time and place where we think everything is possible,’ she said.
‘I don’t know if I would have gone onto have children. But as soon as someone says you can’t have something, you want it more than anything.’
The star added that luckily, the tumour is benign, but she still has to live with the side effects of the growth - which screws with her hormones and can sometimes make her angry.
Sue also spoke honestly about how it felt to see her friend and co-star in comedy, Mel Giedroyc, have children of her own, saying: ‘You’ve gone somewhere I can’t go.’
