Viewers were left feeling emotional last night as romance reality show First Dates proved it does have the formula for success, as the show saw it’s first ever proposal between a loved-up couple who met on the series.
The touching moment happened yesterday evening, as Scott White, 39, stood up from his bar stool and made his way down onto one knee, popping the question to girlfriend Victoria Wills, 29.
And the ring of choice was bound to divide opinion, as Scott pulled from his pocket none other than a jelly ring from a Haribo packet, and placed in on her finger. It’s not quite to everyone’s taste, but a rather sweet move all the same.
Scott said: “Well, you know Miss, you know that we talked about getting married. So..”
“Scott, are you serious, are you actually?” she replied, rather shocked at what was happening.
“No expense spared “ he said as he pulled out the not-so-flash ring.
“So, will you marry me?”
“Yes of course I will! I cant believe you just did that – I’m suppose to be the crazy one!”
And of course fans of the show were set into meltdown, taking to Twitter to express their excitement:
And after Scott received a happy yes from his now fiancée, Scott told viewers:
“I hadn’t had a chance to get a proper ring but I really wanted to do it in the place we met.
"Hopefully in years to come we’ll have our first date to watch but we’ll also have the proposal and we can show it to our kids in the future."
