The hunky mechanic – played by Michael Parr – was thought to be dead, after a vicious fight with his brother Pete ended with him being dumped in the woods.
When Pete discovered his brother’s affair with his wife Debbie Dingle, he lost it – but Ross is back, and he’s out for revenge.
During the latest episode of the ITV soap, guilty Pete confessed the truth to his new wife. But when Debbie broke down, believing Ross to be dead, Pete accused her of still being in love with his brother.
If Debbie is still pining for the wrong Barton, it will make Ross’ revenge plan much easier.
Michael told the Mirror: “He’s in a lot of pain. He’s got to recover and get his head together but ultimately he has two things on his mind – revenge and where’s the love of his life – where’s Debbie?
“Ross is furious, it’s a cold thing to do. Ross has always been painted as the bad one – but he’s never done something like this. I think getting Debbie will be his revenge against Pete.”
Excited Emmerdale fans took to Twitter to react to Ross’ return.
One wrote: “Speechless! @emmerdale last night where it showed ross in hospital, can not wait to see what happens nextLove michael parr [sic].”
Another said: “omg so glad Ross is back it’s amazing!! Yippee [sic].”
“I knew he wouldn’t be there! Yay Ross Barton is Alive!! But who took him to hospital? He’s crazy mum Emma? Chrissie? Robert? #Emmerdale [sic].”
