With husband Ashley Thomas' vascular dementia worsening by the day in Emmerdale, Laurel is understandably struggling to cope with the enormity of the heartbreaking situation.
And things are going to get much worse in coming weeks - when Gabby Thomas collapses following a drinking binge.
Shock scenes will see Gabby struggle so much with her beloved dad's situation that she turns to drink - leading to disastrous consequences.
Gabby's drinking will turn up a notch when she and her friend Buddy decide to make it their mission to get as drunk as they possibly can, with Gabby even daring to streak at the cricket pavillion.
When Laurel, who has had ongoing troubles with drink in the past, finds out - will the Thomas family be able to cope?
Everything soon takes a turn for the worse when Gabby suddenly keels over and has to be rushed to hospital. And whilst Ashley and Laurel wait it out at the hospital, he quickly becomes bewildered and lashes out at his wife - accidently hitting her in the face.
Coming round to the severity of his action, Ashley bursts into tears in front of the whole ward.
Will Gabby's actions lead to a heartbreaking decision for Laurel? And will this be the last straw for the couple?
