Despite the fact that Michael Parr, who plays Ross, has confirmed that he is leaving the show, dedicated viewers flooded Twitter and demanded that his character be allowed to live.

In tonight’s episode it will finally be revealed whether or not Pete actually killed his brother, after finding out about his affair with new wife Debbie Dingle.

As Ross’ parents prepare to do the unthinkable and identify a body which the police believe to be their son, Pete is overcome with guilt.

He confesses to a horrified Debbie, before breaking the news to his shocked dad James.

While some passionate Michael Parr fans started a petition to have Ross Barton return to the show, he confirmed on Twitter last week that it would not be happening.

He wrote: “I’ve had so much fun playing Ross. Thank you, keep watching the show, stay tuned and it’s goodbye from me.

“Off to London know. Got a new job, can’t say what it is but when we start rehearsals I’ll let you know.”
