Emmerdale's Ross Barton has been trying to cope with the fact that he was the victim of an acid attack

Fans of Emmerdale were very wary when show bosses announced that they were going to have an acid attack storyline.

Although it's a very topical subject at the moment, viewers were understandable left uneasy over the thought of it - but thankfully it has been well-researched and fans of the show have particularly praised the performance of Michael Parr, who plays victim Ross Barton.

Unfortunately for Ross, he will find out that his ex-lover and now friend Debbie Dingle was accidentally the driving force behind the attack.

Debbie had been conned by Joseph Tate, Ross' boss, and paid a local drug dealer to "rough him up."

But he took that suggestion way too far, planning to carry out an acid attack on Joseph in the dead of night.

In the dark, he mistook Ross for Joseph and the Barton boy has now been left with life-changing injuries from the attack.

Ross is still unaware that Debbie is partly to blame for his horrific ordeal, but that could all change soon after he lashes out at her and his brother Pete, prompting her dad Cain to go round and have it out with him.

However - that's not the worst of poor Ross' problems.

The mechanic will be told in Tuesday's episode (6th) that he might be able to have a skin graft, and pins all his hopes on his belief that the procedure will return his face to how it was before.

But sadly, he's soon to discover that that's not the case when he goes for a consultation with a doctor who tells him that he'll never look the same ever again.

According to The Sun, the doctor tells him that he will still have a scar on his face, but that it will be a "better" scar than the one currently on his face.

How will Ross take the news?
