Emmerdale fans were shocked when Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) cheated on Dan Spencer with the village bad boy, Ross Barton. So when we learned she was pregnant a few weeks back, everyone drew breath about the potential consequences of that one night stand.

Speaking to OK! Online about the mystery baby daddy, actress Laura teased: "Because Kerry's life is never straight forward she just assumes it's bound to be Ross because nothing good ever happens to her.

"She doesn't want anyone to ever find out and doesn't even want to know herself. She's being cold and problematic about the whole thing, I think it's all gonna bite her on the bum."

Worried that her worst fears will come true about the father, Kerry admitted to friend Joanie that she wanted a termination. But will she go through with it in order to save her relationship?

Dan can’t cry too loudly over the betrayal given her kissed Kerry’s mate Nicola King after her accident earlier this year. Kerry might never have gotten drunk and ended up with Ross if she hadn’t learned about their shock snog.

When asked how she felt about the unwanted love triangle, Laura said: "I think [Liam Fox and I] both felt like with the nature of our characters, it's not plausible that they would always be content and happy."

As for Liam, he says he’d send fiancé Kerry packing if he was Dan: "To be honest if I was Dan I'd want to walk out the door. There's only so much a man can take!"

In tonight’s episode, Kerry blanks Dan when he brings up their wedding plans - she’s clearly got a lot more on her mind!

James Barton (Bill Ward) is bound for even greater misery after a showdown with his son, Ross (Michael Parr), leads to a scary fall down some stairs and a broken leg.

Things go from bad to worse when his wife, Emma (Gillian Kearney), learns of his latest infidelity and decides to punish him with a terrifying turn as Nurse Ratched.

Emma rushes James into bed, not the hospital, and crushes his phone so he can’t call for help. Speaking about his unlikely captivity, Bill said: "James thinks he's being very nicely looked after by Emma, until he discovers that she has been putting liquid morphine in his food! As you can imagine, he's not particularly happy about that.

"But even then, he's still prepared to make a go of it with Emma, because he knows that he's not saintly white himself. He's trying his hardest to forgive her because he genuinely wants them to play happy families now. He'll do anything to make that happen."

But as time goes on, Bill starts to suspect Emma’s sinister motivations. "He does try to work out a way to escape. That's partly by sweet-talking Emma and partly by coming up with ways to make a straightforward escape!

"James does use a few different tactics to try and get out, but at this point, he’s still in fear for his life. He's just trying to get out of the house, see his boys and go to the hospital."

When asked whether he brushed up on Stephen King’s classic thriller, Misery, he admitted he bought the movie but decided against watching it.

He revealed: “We got the writing quite early for a lot of this story. I could see that the writing was really good and very dramatic, so I didn't think it would be a good idea to watch the film.

"I could see quite clearly how this came from the character relationships that we have - it wasn't the same as Misery. Yes, it has a character holding another character captive, but these are two people who are in love. That is very different to the set-up in Misery where it's a superfan and a writer.

"So these are two equals trying to make the best of a marriage that they know is flawed. I will almost certainly watch it after all this plays out, but for now I didn't want the shadow of it hanging over me and for me to be thinking about something else."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode on Thursdays.
