Emmerdale have cast 80's actor (known for Robin of Sherwood and Dynasty) Michael as terribly 'complex' new character Frank Clayton, who's currently in prison.
The 56-year-old actor has been cast as Frank, the jailbird father of Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) and there are definitely going to be some HUGE surprises in store for Emmerdale fans.
Michael said this about joining the cast of the iconic ITV soap: "I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale to play the role of Frank. From what I understand his life is fairly complicated and I’m looking forward to getting to know him and portraying this complex man’."
Producer Iain MacLeod also added: "The character of Frank is really fascinating: flawed, funny, flirtatious – even fatherly, when it suits him!
"His tale is a story of a man trying to find redemption in the face of huge temptation, with a massive twist or two thrown in for good measure. I am thrilled that Michael is on board in the role. He is an actor of real skill and understatement and a brilliant addition to the cast."
Here's hoping Michael is set to become one of soap's best villians.
It seems the 80's heartthrob is definitely having an effect on the soaps cast and crew who remember him from back in the day.
A show insider told The Mirror: “There wasn’t a teenage girl in the 80s who didn’t have a crush on Michael.
"It is fair to say that a lot of female cast and crew are having flashbacks to their youths and are blushing a little when they meet him."
We can't wait to be introduced...
